Li has about 15 years’ experience in the sector of IP law, with particular focus on patent law. Li currently serves as Vice President, Global Intellectual Property (IP) at Bavarian Nordic Inc. Before joining Bavarian Nordic in 2004, she served for more than three years as Senior Associate at the Swedish law firm, RydinCarlsten and as European Legal Specialist at the U.S. law firm, McKenna Long & Aldridge, L.L.P. Prior to these positions, she worked as a legal intern at the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (CAFC) for its current chief judge. In 2004, Li was appointed Professor of Law at Linköping University in Sweden. Preceding these positions, she worked as a legal research assistant and as a regular lecturer at Stockholm University and at the Karolinska Institute. Li was also appointed junior judge while serving as a law clerk at Swedish courts between 1994 -1996. From 2005 to 2007 Li served on the Board of Directors of ZACCO A/S – Patents – Trademarks – Design (Denmark, Sweden, Norway) and from 2005-2009 on the Board of Directors for mNemoscience GmbH.

Thomas Westerlund

Thomas Westerlund currently holds the position, Vice President Structured Acquisitions at RPX Corporation, focusing on Intellectual Property transactions of more complicated nature. Mr Westerlund has 15 years of experience in the area of Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) and Intellectual Property.

Prior to his employment at RPX Mr. Westerlund worked for Nokia Corporation for 10 years. During his tenure at Nokia Corporation, he spent 7 years with Nokia's M&A department investigating and executing strategic acquisitions, divestments and joint ventures in various technology areas. He also spent 3 years with Nokia's Intellectual Property department establishing and heading Nokia's IP acquisition, divestment and investment practice. Prior to this, Mr. Westerlund served at Sonera Capital, the Mergers & Acquisitions arm of Sonera, for 4 years. During his time with Sonera he was an integral part of establishing Sonera Capital’s M&A strategy as well as executing on it.

He has also served on the board of several European technology firms. Mr. Westerlund holds a Masters degree in Economics from Hanken School of Economics in Helsinki, Finland.

Mr Lerenius is a lawyer with a broad experience from the pharmaceutical industry for almost 30 years. Mr Lerenius has served as General Counsel for Astra AB and AstraZeneca Plc 1984 - 2008 and was Company Secretary for Astra AB for 11 years. Today Mr Lerenius is responsible for AstraZeneca´s global Intellectual Property Litigation team and is based at Södertälje in Sweden.

Harri has worked at Nokia since 1985. Between 1985 and 2000 he held different research engineer and manager positions in Nokia R&D, including experiences with standardisation and standards-related IPR activities. In year 2000 he joint Nokia’s IPR department and is currently holding a position as Director, Patenting, Legal and IP, being responsible for Nokia’s patent filing and prosecution as well as patent portfolio management activities. Harri received his M.S. from Helsinki University of Technology in 1986 and has published about 10 papers in international conferences and journals.

David has been an IP counsel for the last 26 years with broad experience in all phases of IP practice. Currently serving as the General Counsel, Head of IP for Shell International B.V. in The Hague, Mr. Koris is responsible for all aspects of technology protection and IP asset management. In addition to managing the IP organization, Mr. Koris is a partner in the technology planning team with responsibilities for leading Shell’s businesses in the creation, development and management of IP strategies that optimize the value of IP assets for the varied technologies and business objectives of the organization.

Mr. Koris began his career in a law firm in Washington, DC where he developed experience in IP practice and ITC litigation. In the following years Mr. Koris has held several executive positions leading the IP efforts of a number of multinational companies including GE’s Advanced Materials Business, Tyco Worldwide Services, Kendall Company and GTE – Precision Materials Business. Mr. Koris is a board member of the Intellectual Property Owners Association, the Chairman of ICC’s Commission on Intellectual Property and has been a speaker at a number of conferences on the role of IP asset management in M&A practice, trademark and copyright issues.

Mr. Koris was born in the United States of America and spent his early years living in The Netherlands, Italy and England before pursing a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry from The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts and his JD from Franklin Pierce Law Center of Concord, New Hampshire.

Mr. Koris is married with three children.

Henrik Villumsen

Henrik has been the General Counsel for Martin Professionals A/S since 2006, working with strategic IP matters. Since 2008, he has also been a member of the Committee of Legal Experts of the Confederation of Danish Industries. Before that, he worked as Senior Specialist at Vestas Wind Systems A/S, external examiner at the University of Aarhus and Legal Counsel at Glud & Mastrand A/S.

Henrik is a qualified lawyer admitted to the Danish bar and to the Danish Appellate Courts (møderet for landsret) with additional LL.M at the University College of London. He is also versed in IP issues in China, having both professional experience in litigating in China and having attended the China Intellectual Property Summer Institute, Franklin Pierce Law and the Summer Law Scholl in China, University of Missouri-Kansas City/University of Peking, Beijing.

Henrik has written cc. 25 articles on intellectual property law and other legal topics, publicised in leading Danish and Scandinavian legal journals and newspapers and is an experienced lecturer, having lectured on IPR law at the University of Aalborg, amongst others.

With his ten year experience as a Chinese patent attorney, he works now as the chief representative of China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd. in Europe.

Lyn Leaper is a European Patent Attorney who joined Astex as VP Intellectual Property in October 2002 from StratagemIPM where she provided IP management and strategic advice to medical and biotechnology companies. Previously she worked at Akzo Nobel NV and from 1999 was Director of Patents at Janssen Pharmaceutica NV (a Johnson & Johnson Company). She obtained a BSc in Biochemistry and a PhD in Plant Biochemistry and Molecular Biology before commencing a career in intellectual property at The Wellcome Foundation Ltd in 1988.

Nanna- Louise is the Director, Legal and Corporate Affairs (LCA), Microsoft Northern Europe, leading the legal and corporate affairs team in the Nordic countries and with responsibilities also over the BeNeLux area. She has worked at Microsoft since 2005 with different geographical areas. As a member of the LCA Leadership in Europe, Nanna-Louise is highly involved with the political, legal and strategic work of Microsoft in Europe, including having experiences with the IP Awareness program and IP external communication with governmental authorities regarding IP matters. She is a qualified lawyer with University degree from the Copenhagen University and has worked in private practice as a lawyer, both in Denmark and UK, where she advised clients on EU anti-trust law and IP law. She is an active member at the Legal Experts & Antitrust Committees at the Danish Industry, at the Legal Committee of the Association of IT Companies, Women on Board, Register of Danish Female Directors and Women of Influence, a female network selected by the executive search company Hedrick Struggles.

He has spoken at many National and International events including: Importance of IP and destination India for IP outsourcing at the International Biotechnology Conference ‘Bio 2006’, Emerging services in IP at the Danish Patent Day in Copenhagen, and on ‘Innovative Entrepreneurship and Strategic Management of IP for Business and Industry’ at an event organized by WIPO. Dan McCurdy

Dan McCurdy was named Chief Executive Officer of Allied Security Trust in August 2008. He is responsible for management of the Trust, patent acquisition and divestiture negotiations, and membership expansion, having also a broad experience in NPEs (sometimes called “patent trolls”) issues, amongst others, having worked with patent pools to financially support the selection and filing of inter partes re-examinations of patents held by NPEs. From 2001 through 2008, Mr. McCurdy was founding CEO of ThinkFire, an intellectual property advisory firm providing services to many of the world’s leading technology companies and private From 2000 - 2001, Mr. McCurdy was president of Lucent Technologies’ Intellectual Property Business. There, he managed 300 employees generating more than $500 million in annual revenues from the licensing of 26,000 worldwide patents. Prior to joining Lucent, he served as founding vice president of IBM’s Life Sciences business unit, and vice president of corporate development for CIENA corporation where he was responsible for mergers and acquisitions. Mr. McCurdy received his B.A. summa cum laude from the University of North Carolina. He served on the Intellectual Property Policy committee of the United States’ National Academies, and recently chaired an effort for the Center for American Progress providing intellectual property policy recommendations to the incoming Obama Administration.

Timothy May directs his patent practice on a broad range of complex technologies, including automotive safety systems, motors, semiconductors, software, and electronics. He counsels clients in all areas of United States patent practice, ranging from patent procurement to opinion preparation to litigation before U.S. district courts.

Mr. May has written hundreds of patent applications and manages the patent portfolios for several companies, from high-tech startups to those in the Fortune 500. He helps clients evaluate inventions in the context of business objectives and applies his extensive prosecution experience to develop internal patent procurement strategies and procedures for clients. Amongst others, he has represented Robert Bosch GmbH in a patent infringement action against Delphi Corp. concerning vehicle safety technology, resulting in a favourable claim construction ruling and a favorable settlement and has managed the patent portfolio of one of the world’s leading financial services companies; work includes advising on patent portfolio development and enforcement, and counseling on product clearance issues.

Mr. May also counsels clients on patent validity and infringement. He has written numerous opinions to defend clients against charges of willful patent infringement, and frequently negotiates directly with opposing counsel over such charges. In addition, he regularly advises clients about infringement risks during the design process and has coordinated clearance studies requiring the evaluation of competitor patents. He is a frequent lecturer on .U.S. patent law and has spoken at numerous conferences in Europe.

Bob Stembridge

Bob Stembridge graduated from University of Sussex, UK with an Honours degree in Chemistry. He joined Derwent (one of the founding components of the IP Solutions business of Thomson Reuters) in 1980 and has held various roles in editorial, marketing, sales and product development over the years. Leaving in 1988 for interludes working as Senior Information Analyst specialising in patent analytics at British Petroleum and European Sales Liaison with Dialog, he returned to Thomson Reuters in 1996 and most recently became Customer Relations Manager with responsibility for liaison with customer user groups for the organisation.

He is a member of ACS, CILIP and PIUG, and is Secretary of CEPIUG and current Chair of PATMG. He was elected to the CSA Trust Board of Trustees in February 2007.
